Lisa & Louise from Crystal Palace & Courtyard
A less ordinary event space.
Stunning events venue Crystal Palace & Courtyard has a uniquely artistic sensibility, having been designed and headed up by practising and exhibiting visual artists Lisa Young and Louise Paramor. Many will know of both the artists’ notable, large-scale sculptural works in the public realm. And those in the inner north will also know Louise and Lisa from local institution The Alderman.
A National Trust listed ex-Victorian era butcher shop, Crystal Palace & Courtyard has been reimagined as a beautiful and grand venue, with guests feeling as though they’ve stumbled into a slice of gracious old Melbourne on arrival. Beyond the scale though is also a sense of surprise and wit to be found thanks to an incredible collection of art and juxtaposition of various elements – from Jessie Boyd Reid’s nude on a fridge to Polly Borland’s image of Nick Cave in a blue wig. You may even spot the artist-owners’ own works in intimate corners…
Damn beautiful but not at all stuffy, a bespoke event at Crystal Palace and Courtyard can be crafted to any individual feel, style or intent. Whether guests are pulling shapes on the dance floor or relaxing in the lush green courtyard, Lisa and Louise ultimately just want people to feel welcome, comfortable and have a good time.
Thinking of having a genuinely unique event in the heart of the inner north? This is where to have it.
On the best thing about being located in Nicholson Village…
“One of the best things about being part of Nicholson Village is the great array of heritage shopfronts that retain much of their original character, as well as the strong presence of small independent businesses along the street.
